What is One Nation, One Election? One Nation, One Election is a proposal under consideration by the Government to arrange elections for the Lok Sabha and all state assemblies . It intends to hold these elections simultaneously, either on a single day or within a specific time frame. Is this a new scheme? After we got our independence, till 1967 there was only one election that was conducted throughout the nation to determine Lok Sabha and state assemblies. But due to some political disturbances and in some states some government didn't even complete its tenure so this cycle could not continue. Mostly 3 types of election are conducted nowadays. Lok Sabha Elections. (Member of Parliament) State Elections. (Chief Minister) Municipal Elections. (Sarpanch) Because these elections are held once in every 5 year and their dates do not overlap.
